ABSTRACT
This paper presents an update on the Instructional Development Division of the Speech Communication Association as of October 1971. After the first meeting of the Instructional Development Division, Chairman William Brooks named two ad hoc committees. A committee named to prepare a statement of the scope and concern of the division is chaired by Gustav Freidrich, Purdue University. The Structures, By-laws and Procedures Committee is chaired by William Colburn, University of Michigan. A divisional task force has been named to build a bank of behavioral objectives, pre-K through college, for all types of speech communication courses. The task force is chaired by Richard Lee, Florida State University, Tallahassee. Bruce Markgraf, Denison University, is writing a high school speech communication textbook and invites high school teachers to send him manuscripts of short informative and persuasive student speeches for possible inclusion in the text.
