ABSTRACT
This paper looks at the actions taken by the Speech Communication Association Administrative Committee at its New York City meeting on September 30-October 2, 1974. It received a status report from Bicentennial Youth Debates Director Richard Huseman outlining current activities and future plans. The committee adopted an austerity budget for the current fiscal year in response to the operating deficit incurred for fiscal 1973-74. R. R. Allen has been appointed to a three-year term on the Advisory Council of the Associated Organizations for Teacher Education. It directed the national office staff to give high priority, in seeking outside funding, to a projected conference of, by, and for secondary school speech communication teachers. The committee passed a resolution calling for financial support for the National Institute of Education. It also commended the retiring members of the committee--Allen, John E. Dietrich, Herbert Simons, Thomas Sloan--as well as President Becker--for their services to the association.
