ABSTRACT
This article presents solutions to readers queries on issues pertaining to the U.S. Immigration Law. Responding to a question related to spouse sponsorship to an illegal immigrant in the U.S. experts suggest that a spouse of a U.S. citizen who has overstayed is still eligible to apply for residence through marriage within the United States without any penalty. To do so, one must prove that one has legally entered the U.S. on a valid visa and were inspected by an immigration officer. The individual and his spouse should file for adjustment of status at their local immigration office.
