ABSTRACT
This article summarizes the conference proceedings of the 1965 Legislative Assembly of the Speech Association of America (SAA). SAA second vice president Douglas Ehninger called the meeting to order at 10:15 a.m. After brief introductory remarks, he appointed to the Tellers Committee: James Golden, Goodwin Berquist, Joe Wetherby and Elton Abernathy. The chairman received the report of the Credentials Committee from Betty Mae Collins who announced that 84 members were present. The Assembly was asked to select a 1967 Nominating Committee. Ineligible members were James Cleary, Robert P. Friedman, Sylvester Touissaint, John F. Wilson and Donald Streeter for 1965; Robert Huber, Barnet Baskerville, Robert Haakenson, Ray Yeager and Dwight Freshley for 1966. Robert Huber, chairman of the Nominating Committee, presented the slate of candidates to be elected by the 1967 Assembly. Results are appended. Robert Jeffrey of the Constitutional Revision Committee reported upon Frank Haiman's resolution passed by the 1965 Assembly. The resolution called for a study of the powers and working relationship between the Legislative Assembly and the Administrative Council. Jeffrey reported that the committee was not ready to make a report. He recommended that the problems and suggestions for solution be passed to the new chairman of the Constitutional Revision Committee, Goodwin Berquist.
