ABSTRACT
The article reports that Los Angeles daily papers played Richard Nixon special fund disclosure on the inside pages for two days until irresistible public interest forced the news onto page one. Los Angeles "Times," immediately became Nixon's defender. The first story carried by the "Times," Friday, September 19, was a thinly-disguised editorial by the political editor, Kyle Palmer. The "Mirror," afternoon tabloid published by the "Times-Mirror," carried as its first story an AP dispatch which was devoted to Nixon's defense of the fund.
