This section presents updates on the activities of the Royal Economic Society as of June 2004. At the annual general meeting of the society, held on April 5, 2004 at the University of Wales Swansea, Professor John Sutton, professor of economics at London School of Economics was confirmed as the President of the Society for a period of three years. The following were elected to hold office for five years from 2004-2009: David Begg, Imperial College; Julia Darby, Strathclyde University; Raquel Fernandez, London School of Economics; Kevin Roberts, University of Oxford; Margaret Slade, University of Warwick; and Sushil Wadhwani, Wadhwani Asset Management Ltd. The 2005 annual conference of the society will be held at the University of Nottingham, on March 21 to 23. Further details will follow in the July 2004 issue of the newsletter together with the Secretary-General's annual report and the report on this year's annual Conference.
