ABSTRACT
The article discusses the findings of a study to determine the effects of need supportive (NS) short messaging service (SMS) on 65 sedentary individuals who have started on an exercise program. It notes that during ten weeks of receiving SMS the 65 individuals showed higher motivation to engage in moderate intensity physical activity. It confirms the effectiveness of SMS as a health promotion tool for larger portions of the population.
