ABSTRACT
The article highlights the role of workshops in opening new possibilities for patient-centered peripheral nervous system-machine interfaces (PMI) and new ideas to advance the technology. A series of meetings by a group led by Claudio Castellini of the German Aerospace Center's Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics and Panagiotis K. Artemiadis of Arizona State University addressed PMI issues. Other topics include surface electromyography (sEMG) and shared control between device and user.
