Break the Sugar Habit

Sugar, in moderation, can be a pleasurable part of a healthful diet. Trouble is, sugar consumption in the U.S. has steadily increased, along with the rates of obesity in all age groups. Most heavily sweetened foods are also high in calories. Of great concern, eating lots of sweets squeezes out nutrient-rich foods from our diets. According to scientists, sugar intake should be limited to 25 percent or less of total calories. While it is a challenge, there are ways to control calorie intake through sugar.
